Castle in Wintrange

Historic monument
Event space

What: A castle, built in 1610, situated on a property of 3.45 acres surrounded by a high wall, whose main building covers an area of approximately 550 sq. m., with

  • A ground floor of approx. 200 sq. m.
  • A first and second floor covering an area of approx. 150 and 130 sq. m., respectively
  • An attic of 140 sq. m.
  • As many as 21 rooms (including 10 bedrooms)

The property includes as well:

  • An annex of 140 sq. m., with the potential to add another other stories for approx. 400 sq. m.
  • A unique walled park with over 240 different trees in over three acres of private land
  • A lovely Orangerie with two separate floors and two cellars in the courtyard and a greenhouse in the park where you can grow enough food throughout the year to feed more than just a household
  • A small creek that runs through the property.

Where: The castle lies in the picturesque Mosel river valley, and more specifically in Wintrange, a small village surrounded by vineyards, lakes and a bird sanctuary, close to the French and German borders. Located on the south-eastern tip of Luxembourg and close to the centre of the village that bears the same name, Château de Wintrange is a short 30-minute drive from Luxembourg City and Luxembourg Findel International Airport and 5 minutes away from access to a major highway.

Why: Currently a privately owned and carefully restored property, the castle and park are still the Schlesser family's private residence, who have been its owners since the late 1930s, and can be rented for events, weddings, film and photo shoots. It is one of the most beautiful privately owned castles in the Luxembourg region and it enjoys the status of a National Historic Landmark, with restauration works started in 2014 in cooperation with the National Service for Sites and Monuments of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Château de Wintrange is the perfect destination for important events, from elegant weddings to upscale, yet casual corporate events and family celebrations, which account for a truly memorable experience for you and your guests. It has provided the setting for dozens of movies and TV series.

The property has a great potential for the establishment of a public event space, such as a high-end restaurant with its own gar¬den and orchard, or as a fine family home, while the castle itself could serve partly as private/office space and public space, if desired.

Note: One need to foresee numerous renovations in the building. Further information, including a brief history of the property throughout the centuries, is available in a brochure that we can happily provide to any potential buyer / investor.
